Let time travelled on foot be x and on cycle be (8 – x) hours.
⇒ Distance travelled on foot = speed× time = 8 × x = 8x km
⇒ Distance travelled on cycle = speed × time = 13 × (8 – x) = (104 – 13x) km
⇒ Total distance travelled = 8x + (104 – 13x) = 104 – 5x km
According to question,
⇒ 104 – 5x = 84
⇒ 5x = 20
⇒ x = 4
∴ Time travelled on cycle = (8 – 4) = 4 hours
