      CONCEPT:

      • Refraction: The bending of a ray of light when it goes from one medium to another is called refraction of light.
        • Refraction occurs when waves or rays of the light bend towards or away from the normal when they travel from one medium to another of a different density.
        • When a light ray travels from a lighter to a denser medium, the light ray bends towards the normal.
        • When a light ray travels from a denser to a lighter medium the light ray bend away from the normal.

      EXPLANATION:

      1. Reflection: The phenomena in which light ray is sent back into the same medium from which it is coming, on interaction with boundary, is called reflection.
      2. Dispersion of light: The splitting of white light, when it passes through glass prism into its constituent spectrum is known as the dispersion of light.
      3. Refraction: The bending of light rays in the denser medium is termed as Refraction. So option 3 is correct.
      4. Deflection: There is no such phenomenon as a deflection of light.
