6. Educational Qualification

  • Basic Requirement: Candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree (Graduation) in any stream from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.

  • Final Year Students: Candidates must possess the degree by the closing date of the application.

8. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The physical efficiency test for uniformed posts (DSP/Prisons) generally involves a medical checkup and endurance as per the state police rules. Candidates must not have knock-knees, flat feet, squint eyes, or any contagious disease.

9. Mode of Selection (Detailed)

The selection process involves three distinct stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective): Two papers (GS-I and GS-II) of 200 marks each. This is qualifying in nature to shortlist candidates for the Mains.

  2. Main Examination (Written/Descriptive): Six papers (Total 950 Marks).

    • Paper-I: General Hindi & English (100 Marks - Qualifying)

    • Paper-II: Language & Literature (150 Marks)

    • Paper-III, IV, V, VI: General Studies (200 Marks each)

  3. Interview (Personality Test): 100 Marks. Final merit is based on Mains (excluding Paper-I) + Interview scores.

10. Reservation Criteria

  • Domicile: Reservation is available only for permanent residents of Jharkhand.

  • OBC (BC-I/BC-II): Benefit is provided only on production of a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate.

  • EWS: Candidates must possess a valid Income & Asset Certificate for the relevant financial year.

  • Women: Horizontal reservation as per government rules.

11. Age Relaxation

Relaxation in the upper age limit (35 years) is provided as follows:

  • EBC (I) / BC (II): 37 Years

  • Female (UR/EBC/BC): 38 Years

  • SC / ST (Male & Female): 40 Years

  • PwBD: 10 Years additional relaxation.

  • Ex-Servicemen: 5 Years relaxation.

  • Prelims Paper-I: History of India, Geography, Indian Polity, Economy, Science & Tech, Jharkhand Specific, Current Events.

  • Prelims Paper-II: Detailed Jharkhand General Studies (History of Jharkhand, Movements, Identity, Literature, People, Sports, Land Laws - CNET/SPT, Forest Management, Environment).
